8 Minutes Max returns

Thank you, artists, so much for performing last night.  It was such a wonderful time, each of you sharing your gifts with the rest of us.  It was funny, beautiful, inspiring, thought-provoking … and I might add, delicious during the reception time afterwards.  It was also a great time afterwards of looking more closely at the exhibit on the walls.

I was glad for the diversity of gifts, for the good attendance, for the responsiveness of the listeners, for the extra work preparing for and setting up the event.  The background work sometimes goes un-noticed, but Wendy Dooldeniya orchestrated the reception afterwards along with help from the lovely Mrs. Dorman and Mrs. Bjork.  Kelly Foster provided the evaluation forms for all to use and arranged the stage area to provide more of an intimate atmosphere, hide stage clutter and also provide for more dance area for Cindy Trevizo.  Terry Edwards came early to help with the videoing of the performances.   Tim Dolbear and his wife Angela recorded and photo’ed the event.  Tim also fought our sound system problems and beat them to the ground just in time for the event to start.  ((How does an amp suddenly get turned off in a locked room?))  Tim is a professional recording engineer and producer.  We are so glad he and Angela were there.  His web site is:

So, thanks again for a lovely night.  Looking forward to the next..

Jack

PS, if you weren’t there, you missed a poohville story beyond compare, but, you had to be there, I think..

September Arts Council meeting

The Arts Council (Jack Dorman, Rick Van Dyke, Wendy Dooldeniya, and Kelly Foster) met on Sept. 28 to discuss many things. Here's a brief recap.
• The members will decide who will be responsible for what actions by defining what needs to be done, with the goal of letting the HopeArts comminuty know. They also discussed how to keep Geno in the loop -- by inviting him to some meetings and otherwise communicating with him.
• Rick suggested that Jack take the "interim" off his title as Arts Pastor.
• Wendy started the discussion about setting goals through next summer and figuring out what Hope artists need and what the Council can provide. The memebrs discussed the Advent exhibit and set dates for the next three arts potluck gatherings. A decision needs to made about and arts festival next summer. A number of names were thrown out as possible managers for 8 Minutes Max. The Council would like to see the visual art recognized and presented to Hope on Sunday morning. Rick and Jack will talk with Geno about how to best do that. Kelly and Jack will work on creating comment forms for 8MM. Wendy will be responsible for a reception after 8MM in October. Rick will write the prospectus for the Easter exhibit and 8MM. Kelly will plan the Good Friday service.
The Council determined several dates for upcoming events, so check the calendar for more information. And give your Council members a hug when you see them -- they are working hard for you!
